Background We have had a long tradition for having students working alongside our development activities in South East Asia. To make a research project with us in the tropics we require: • That the student find an internal advisor in Denmark • That the student work in close collaboration with a local young researcher that we team the student up with • We normally require that the student participate in either the Tropical Ecosystems – Management and Development course or the Approaches to Development course (= Ulandslære) • That the student find funds to cover travel and accommodation in the field (we cover direct research costs and hiring of local assistance) • Given the time it takes to adapt to working in a tropical (and often developing) country we prefer to work with MSc Student Projects (= specialer), but we have had some Bachelor students working alongside our projects as well. Below is a list of topics that are of interest to us, but if you have a good idea for a research project, please do not hesitate to contact us. Send an e-mail to Thomas Nielsen . If we like your idea we will be happy to associate you with cenTER and help you find funding for your research project. A good place to start could be the Danish Development Research Network homepage. Thailand (Ranong) - Studies on productivity and mortality of mangrove species planted on new accreted habitats
