
The Department of Bioscience is one of the largest departments at the Faculty of Science housing a staff of 500 and more than 700 students enrolled.
Basic research and teaching are carried out in the areas of botany, zoology, marine biology, genetics, evolution, microbiology, zoophysiology, ecophysiology, population ecology, ecotoxicology, and bioinformatics.
The staff at the department participates in the education of students in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, nano-technology and athletics. At the moment, 120 Masters and 40 Ph.D students are studying at the department.
Staff from the department participates in the following research centers: Aarhus Center for Environmental Stress Research (ACES), Bioinformatics Research Center (BiRC) and Tropical Ecosytems Research (CenTER), and the two international Ph.D. Schools SOAS (International School of Aquatic Science) and ISOBIS (International School of Biodiversity Science)
