Humans utilize a great proportion of both land and sea areas and have impacts on largely all populations and ecosystems on Earth, and human influence is even increasing, e.g., due to the ongoing climate changes. Our nature management research is to a large extent based on our climate and environment research, and is focused on what can be done to minimize the negative impacts of global environmental change? How can environment and nature be managed more sustainably, so that we avoid large biodiversity losses and destruction of ecosystem functioning.  How can biodiversity in the tropical forests and the oceans be managed more sustainably? How can nature management in Denmark be done, so that conditions for nature are improved? Which possibilities are there for reintroducing regionally or locally extinct species, and what would the effects be? Which management strategies are optimal for biodiversity in various habitat types? How can we increase the robustness of nature towards future climate change?
