M.Sc. (2004) University of Copenhagen & University of Southern Denmark. Sounds produced by foraging killer whales ( Orcinus orca ) .

PhD. (Start May 2006). University of Aarhus.

Working experience:

2005-2007: Project researcher at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources.

  • Coordinating the Greenlandic parts of the Trans-North Atlantic Sighting Survey (T-NASS)
  • Plane and ship based surveys of Greenlandic marine mammals
  • Satellite tagging of fin- and humpback whales (as well as obtaining biopsies and photo-ID pictures)
  • International meetings

  • Acoustic monitoring of harbour porpoises and bottlenose dolphins in Cardigan Bay, Wales, using T-PODs. In cooperation with the Countryside Council for Wales.
  • Line-transect surveys and broad band sound recordings of wild bottlenose dolphin and common dolphin echolocation signals with a four-element hydrophone array
  • Assistant Coordinator of the National Whale and Dolphin Watch 2004
  • Fieldwork assistant in distance sampling surveys and photo identification on bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises and grey seals. 

2002:   Working in the exhibition at The University of Copenhagen, ZoologicalMuseum.

2002:   June-August. Research assistant and tracker for Ocean Futures and the Free Willy-Keiko Foundation, Iceland. This work included satellite and radio tracking, photo-ID, sound recordings and behavioural observations.

2001:   Species identification of the cephalopod contents in porpoise stomachs. P. Berggren, University of Stockholm.

2000-02:   Assistant for Ole Tendal, Zoological museum of Copenhagen. Work consisted of maintaining the marine invertebrate collection, preparing slides for microscopic species determination and creating a literature database.
