Paradigms and values in the scientific process
Which role do values and background beliefs play in the process of science? This talk will present a number of cases from the history of science that illustrate why new ideas can be met with resistance, and why in such cases scientists can disagree heavily. From these cases it will be discussed how we form and justify beliefs in science and the role that values play in this process.
