Dirk de Beer vil tale om studier af svovlbakterier i relation til kvælstofkredsløbet. Desuden vil han forstille et nyt måleinstrument, den såkaldte "crawler", som kan køre rund på havbunden og gennemføre langtidsmålinger med mikroeletroder og andre instrumenter.

   Quantitative Genetic Analysis: Can our Data challenge our Model?
Thomas Fabbro, PostDoc, University of Basel/CH, Zoological Institute, Evolutionary Biology
Thomas Fabbro is interested in evolution of phenotypic plasticity and how it can be shaped by different selection pressures. With quantitative genetic experiments he studied the amount of heritable variation for induced resistance traits and their correlations in the weedy annual plant Sinapis arvensis.
He is invited to lecture at the Department of Systematic Botany, and will be teaching a 2 weeks course on advanced statistics using R. He is the author of the R package qgen (Quantitative Genetics using R, http://www.evolution.unibas.ch/people/tfabbro/qgen/qgen.htm ).
